The study aims to evaluate the feasibility of the application of a lab scale sediment slurry-sequencing batch reactor (SS-SBR) for the treatment of polyciclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) contaminated lagoon sediment. In the study the Venice lagoon sediment samples were characterised for nutrient and PAH contents and the sampled sediment were used for the preparation of the feed slurry. Biological activity in the SS-SBR was evaluated measuring the degradation rate of two different added substrates (glucose and lactose), and in the subsequent phases the total PAH removal was evaluated in different operating conditions.

Abstract
The study aims to evaluate the feasibility of the application of a lab scale sediment slurry-sequencing batch reactor (SS-SBR) for the treatment of polyciclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) contaminated lagoon sediment. In the study the Venice lagoon sediment samples were characterised for nutrient and PAH contents and the sampled sediment were used for the preparation of the feed slurry. Biological activity in the SS-SBR was evaluated measuring the degradation rate of two different added substrates (glucose and lactose), and in the subsequent phases the total PAH removal was evaluated in different operating conditions.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
