Composite E-glass tubes different in fibre orientations were made by Filament Winding technique. An innovative CND machine, characterized by five independent axes, were adopted. The specimens were made in order to tolerate high pressure during the work. At this aim, they were designed following the well known stress criteria. The tubes were loaded by an internal pressure up to the damage occurs. The results in terms of residual strength were compared to the prediction of a numerical cod based on Tsai-Hill, Tsai-Wu and Hoffman criteria. The cod was assessed to predict the mechanical properties of the material as a function of the stacking sequence. A good agreement was found
