French foundries are competing against low costs countries, who are using different rules in terms of fiscal, social and environment laws. These competitors are reducing the number and the proficiency of new contracts, consequently modifying companies' financial balances. In order for the French companioes to remain competitive, they need to convince new customers, by reducing their production costs; controlling the process risks and developing differentiation factors (quality, innovation, reactivity, etc.). The scientific way to amend the progresses is based on methodological propositions and deployments utilizing digital engineering technologies. Therefore, the bases of this thesis are to understand the factors which restrict the technologies introduction, and to propose methodological solutions for their integrations all along the sand casting process, from the negotiations to the customer delivery. A new global approach is proposed, based on product and process definition, for costs evaluation, order strategic and logistic impact simulation, rapid product development, production performance enhancement and total digital traceability for parts and tooling. We explain the fundaments and the innovative factors, and argue the different new solutions which it has been necessary to create, both on the conceptual model and the operational levels. Finally we prove this approach relevance with a real study case, realized in SMC Colombier-Fontaine, the industrial partner of this thesis, where the application is working successfully.
