This research proposal is aimed at updating knowledge on the system of the Vesuvian Villas of the 18th century and on their relationship with the territory, following a work methodology that is based on an interdisciplinary and multi-scalar approach. The goal is the investigation of the complex landscape system of the villas from multiple standpoints, intertwining historical and critical-interpretative knowledge, with the synergic and integrated contributions of the disciplines of Architectural History, Drawing, and Restoration. This is aimed at providing a critical elaboration of a data set on the single buildings and the relationships between them on a territorial scale. A critical selection will be performed on the iconographic, cartographic, archival, and bibliographic documentation concerning the whole heritage of the Vesuvian villas. 3D morphometric data and information concerning materials, construction techniques, and forms of decay and instability will be acquired for some representative samples. These data will flow into a territorial information system (GIS): the potential of this tool will allow the interrelation of heterogeneous and fragmented data, to evaluate the diachronic transformations of these sites, and hypothesize predictive and preventive actions. The results will be a systematic, coherent, open, and implementable research product. This interpretative tool will be useful to orient incisive and integrated actions and outline regeneration and conservation strategies for the Vesuvian villas and their territorial system that they have contributed to shaping. The proposed research product will be a tool to support the public administration both in defining conservation, valorization, and preservation choices for the single villas, and in orienting governance on the Vesuvian coastline.

Abstract
The proposed research product will be a tool to support the public administration both in defining conservation, valorization, and preservation choices for the single villas, and in orienting governance on the Vesuvian coastline.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
