The essay (Platonic metaphysics and Aristotelian metaphysics. A(n im)possible harmony) addresses the relationship between Plato and Aristotle. Using examples of harmonising exegesis, the author reflects on selected aspects of Platonic metaphysics and notes how some Neoplatonists use Aristotle to reconcile two theoretical perspectives that are still considered to be irreconcilable. The ultimate goal is to grasp the meaning of the Neoplatonic use of certain images of two birds – the swan and the owl – in relation to didactic considerations concerning the natural disposition and education of the metaphysical gaze in Platonic schools.
