What does it mean to orient someone/oneself post-critically?

In this paper, I explore a specific ‘educational’ activity: guidance (in Italian, orientamento [orientation]). This focus is motivated by the fact that guidance might seem the least likely candidate for a post-critical redescription and, moreover, one that genuinely takes care of our common world (which is at risk of withering away). The rationale behind this paper can be captured in the following question: does a post-critical approach entail abandoning the very idea of guidance as “educational,” or is there room for a post-critical reinterpretation of it? After briefly reconstructing the international and national debate on guidance (mainly based on policy documents), I will address this issue by drawing on and reconceptualizing my experience in a guidance project funded by the Ministry of University. This project was carried out within the Social Work degree program, with my university acting as the coordinator of a national initiative involving 23 universities and their BA programs in Social Work.
