Gambling is a possible declination of playing, as an ontological modality in the evolution of Sapiens' behavior. Sometimes it can occur as a pathological "addiction". Today in Italy there is an emergency in this regard. And yet, popular forms of gambling are promoted precisely by the government and constitute important incomes. While the gambling addiction is classified as a real illness. But can we identify it this way, without relating to the conditions of the player? For an individual who has great assets, it can represent a luxury, for someone who is in difficult economic conditions it reveals himself as a serious and harmful tendency. It is a question of reasonableness and measure. But can we deny the right to hope? It is a difficult question, a multidimensional, ambiguous phenomenon, to be investigated with multidisciplinary and complex conceptual instrumentation.
