The paper dealt with the evaluation of seismic – energy retrofitting of an existing masonry building achieved thanks to the application of a new, innovative and lightweight metal exoskeleton called Resisto 5.9. After a brief digression about the current conditions of Italian building heritage, this novel system has been introduced. Subsequently, the Resisto 5.9 seismic coat envelope has been illustrated, focusing on its components. Before applying the seismic coat on the case study, its main characteristics have been described. After this knowledge phase, the seismic behaviour of the structure has been analysed. Since it appeared deficient in both directions, the seismic coat has been dimensioned, and the seismic analyses have been repeated. They showed the achievement of the complete retrofitting of the structure and, thus, the effectiveness of the Resisto 5.9 seismic coat system.
