Given the necessity for numerical validation, precisely determining the ship’s center of gravity and moment of inertia is crucial for validating simulations with motions. This paper performs three sections to illustrate the accuracy of the measurement method based on SolidWorks. Firstly, an analytical formulation on a shelled box is used to do the verification analysis. Secondly, the inclining test is used to validate the reliability of the measurement method in determining the ship's vertical center of gravity. By comparing the vertical center of gravity value in the test, SolidWorks yields only a 4.06% error. Thirdly, the flooding test of the damaged ship in still water is used to validate the reliability of the measurement method in determining the ship's moment of inertia. By comparing the test roll curve and its amplitude of 5.5 degrees, the tendency consistency and 3.6% amplitude error validate the moment of inertia input into CFD software.

Abstract
By comparing the test roll curve and its amplitude of 5.5 degrees, the tendency consistency and 3.6% amplitude error validate the moment of inertia input into CFD software.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
