Remote sensing analysis and legacy data GIS integration for the archaeological map of Medma (Rosarno-Reggio Calabria) - The paper aims to present the results of the archaeological mapping project on Medma and its territory (Rosarno, Reggio Calabria), a Greek colony founded in the 6th century BCE from Locri. The area has been investigated in the 19th and 20th century and the excavations allowed to recognize several and different archaeological evidences (tombs, houses, votive deposits, streets) dated between the 6th and 4th century BCE. The recent research program intended to combine the heterogenous data, using the GIS plat- form. The data from the previous studies (legacy data) have been joined to the new results from the remote sensing (photointerpretation). This research program allowed to reconstruct the complicated palimpsest of the ancient settlement system of the Medma alluvial floodplain and to realize an archaeological map, useful for cultural policies of this territory.
