The human occupation of Ripari Alti, in Valle di Lamen (Feltre) has been known for many decades. However, the remote location of the site has long discouraged archaeological excavations in the area. Since 2021, a research group specialised in mountain archaeology, which has been collaborating with the National Park of the Dolomites for a few years, has undertaken an excavation under these rockshelters, uncovering domestic spaces dated to the end of the Neolithic and the Copper Age. The next archaeological campaigns will assess the duration and function of this occupation and to understand why groups of farmers and herders used mountain landscapes above 1000 m of elevation.
