This essay tries to argue and discuss the relevance of the relationship between organized crime and urban planning in the context of global challenges and local responses. Although in a globalized world, the organized crime economies have become stronger and better able to expand their influence in the cities and territory producing ‘disorder’, the local effects are still underestimated by planners. Reflecting on literature available and a case-study about the implementation of an urban program in Bagheria, the paper try to point out how planners' planning practices could contrast the effects of ‘urban disorder’ at the local level.
