We show that the sampling approach provided by the Singular Value Optimization (SVO) technique is “optimal” in the sense that, when defining an electromagnetic link, it leads to the use of elementary antennas having the same performance of “virtual” receiving antennas provided by the application of the Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) approach to the relevant radiation operator. Without loss of generality, the discussion is led in a 2D, scalar setting.

Abstract

We show that the sampling approach provided by the Singular Value Optimization (SVO) technique is “optimal” in the sense that, when defining an electromagnetic link, it leads to the use of elementary antennas having the same performance of “virtual” receiving antennas provided by the application of the Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) approach to the relevant radiation operator. Without loss of generality, the discussion is led in a 2D, scalar setting.
