Abitare frontiere urbane: una nuova strategia urbana per Napoli Porta Est

This paper is a result of a research aimed at systematising a specific set of questions related to the processes of transformation and regeneration of areas on the periphery of the consolidated city. This investigation, carried out as part of a wider scientific research, seeks to identify possible methodologies for intervening in peripheral and abandoned areas. The area situated to the south of Naples Central Station has been analysed in order to open up a critical reflection on an idea of the city based on the definition of new urban sequences designed to welcome and include, where the system of public space, articulated and differentiated, becomes an essential formal core of the design proposal. The design project is thus conceived as an open process that proposes specific solutions resulting from a careful reading and analysis of the environment in its totality.
