Logica fantastica e sapienza poetica. Per un confronto tra Bruno e Vico

The problem of the infinite as declined by Bruno and Vico in their philosophies, represents one of the theoretic-interpretative keys that makes possible a comparison between the two authors. There is a theoretical, historical and human distance, that separates the Nolan and the Neapolitan; however it is possible to identify not only similar sources, methodologies and instruments between the two philosophers, but also to see philosophical, poetic and civil instances, in many ways common to both the Bruno’s Dialoghi italiani and Vico’s third Scienza Nuova. From this perspective, this study aims to be a critic confrontation between the two authors examined, through an analysis of Bruno’s fantastic logic and Vico’s poetic knowledge, of the role of poetry, metaphor and memory, as a modality of access to a dimension of human infinity.
