The essay aims to present the main aspects of the philosophical thinking of Francesco Cattani da Diacceto (1466-1522) starting from the recent publication of the first monograph dedicated to his thought. The Florentine, traditionally considered Marsilio Ficino’s intellectual heir, elaborates an original philosophy that, despite the influence of his master, is the result of a complex encounter between Platonism and Aristotelianism. The analysis of his metaphysical, cosmological and anthropological theories, as well as the philosophy of love elaborated in opposition to Giovanni Pico della Mirandola’s one, not only allows to evaluate the contribution of the sources he used, but also to rethink the legacy of the philosophical tradition of Humanism in the first half of the sixteenth century.
