This work shows how the Ode ad florem Gnidi turns out to be a response to the problems of composition that Bernardo Tasso was the first to pose and try to solve. On the other hand, it reveals how the expressive and conceptual legacy related to vulgar love lyrics is still valid in the Ode, where Horatian references are often intertwined with Petrarchian and Dantesque memories.
