Abstract

A theme destined to become central in the international sociological debate concerns the current transformation of technique into a techno-magical paradigm that characterizes the fundamental scenarios of contemporary sociality. In this regard, the reflections of Vincenzo Susca are particularly significant. They are supported by a robust theoretical system and are marked by an understanding gaze, directed towards the cybernetization of the joint centers that make up the human being: the body, thought and discourse. The process of digital virtualization has dethroned the individual, protagonist of the model of classical Western epistemology and weakened his Weltanschauung, based on the idea of subiectum, formed starting from the Renaissance. The avant-gardes of electronic culture have reinvented fetishes, myths and rhythms that recreate an aesthetic dimension and establish collective bonds in the reified world of the post-industrial era. Susca demonstrates how a sort of new paganism could animate a new community spirit and illustrates how it is celebrated through new rituals, reawakening legends and idolatries.
