In this poster we focus on the relationship between Italian start-ups, Provinces and Activities, collecting the 11306 Italian start-ups(http://startup.registroimprese.it), classified into 18 different Sector of Activities (denoted as “ATECO 2007” codes defined by the Italian Statistical Institution), for each of 105geographical entities (Provinces). Two-mode network analysis has been performed on 2) Provinces and 2) Sectors of activities to retrieve the main structural properties. We employ a community detection suited for weighted, undirected and bipartite networks. The main results highlight that Italy shows a large amount of start-ups in the northern provinces while some south regions play a not negligible role. Medium-sized Northern areas are characterized by Financing, Information, Communication, Transportation and Storage. South mainly relies upon Science/Technology, Administrative/Services, and sectors related to Tourism. Regarding sectors, Manufacturing is the most relevant in small and medium provinces trough the whole Country.
