Hacia una revisión sistemática del concepto de turismo patrimonial

The World Tourism Organization underlined the importance of cultural and heritage tourism, since it involves and brings together culture, art, creativity and learning; in addition, this form of tourism favors a development of communities that takes into account the value of local culture. This research aims to identify the most important and recurring themes in the current literature on this form of tourism. This theoretical work can serve as a basis and support for future empirical research, since it offers a systematization of the literature to highlight the relevant issues that describe the behavior of tourists in cities, cultural heritage, i.e., authenticity, identity, tourist destination, motivation and community. It is concluded on the impact of a bibliometric study in the Web of Science database and through a co-word analysis with Bibliometrix that enabled a deeper look on cultural and heritage tourism and highlighting the links between authenticity, destination and motivations, identity and community; issues that provide the opportunity to shape new strategies in the supply of tourism experiences.
