Photometric and spectroscopic observations of V701 Cen have been analysed. We find that V701 Cen is a triple system comprising an eclipsing pair which is a semi-deteched system plus a third component. We obtained an A0V spectral type for the primary componen t of the ecli psing pair and A 3 V -IV, A 0-A2 V-IV for the secondary and third component respectively. Chromospheric activity might be present in one of the components of the eclipsing pair. Sudden jumps in the radiai velocities are suggested to be due to the presence of a gaseous stream in the system.

Abstract

Photometric and spectroscopic observations of V701 Cen have been analysed. We find that V701 Cen is a triple system comprising an eclipsing pair which is a semi-deteched system plus a third component. We obtained an A0V spectral type for the primary componen t of the ecli psing pair and A 3 V -IV, A 0-A2 V-IV for the secondary and third component respectively. Chromospheric activity might be present in one of the components of the eclipsing pair. Sudden jumps in the radiai velocities are suggested to be due to the presence of a gaseous stream in the system.
