Finding the minimum of a function of many variables which are limited by physical constraints is a problem common to many fi.elds of research. In this paper we analyze the general characteristics of the methods currently available and describe one in particular, the Controlled Random Search technique of Price (1976), which, although very CPU consuming, allows a solution even when the shape of the function is not known.

Abstract
Finding the minimum of a function of many variables which are limited by physical constraints is a problem common to many fi.elds of research. In this paper we analyze the general characteristics of the methods currently available and describe one in particular, the Controlled Random Search technique of Price (1976), which, although very CPU consuming, allows a solution even when the shape of the function is not known.File in questo prodotto:
