Abstract

Using the Wilson-Devinney approach, wc have obtained a new solution of Ertan's (1981) photoelectric observations of V548 Cygni, an eclipsing binary suspected to be a sd-d candidate. Our solution givcs a sccondary component in contact with its lobe; the computation of the absolute elcments, based on the photometrie mass ratio and on the spectroscopically determined mass function f (m) = 0.0544 solar masses, gives a configuration typical of mass exchanging Algols. The usefulness of Roche-modrl-based methods for such doubtful systems is emphasized.
