The implementation at the ESO/ESA ST-ECF in Munich of the Data Management Facility (DMF) for the scientific archive of the Hubble Space Telescope (to be put in orbit within 1987) is described. The DMF is using a relational database machine for the Catalogue and optical disks for the Archive; these systems are accessed through an External Interface (EIF) to put data in, and a User Interface (UIF) to retrieve data. The architecture of the UIF is described in detail.
