Lavoro, genere, salute: analisi antropologica in un ambulatorio antimobbing a Napoli

The article reflects, within the broad critical perspective of cultural anthropology and with particular reference to medical anthropology, anthropologies of work and of gender, and with field research conducted in a healthcare context, on the experience of mobbing at work lived by some women patients in a specialistic outpatient clinic of the ASL of Naples. From the stories collected and analysed with an anthropological methodology, it is evident that the phenomenon of mobbing at work impacts not only on the career of the interviewed women and on their psychophysical health, but also on their social health. Jeopardizing their entire relational organization, the mobbing configures itself, in some cases, as a ‘murder’ of the person on the symbolic level, in close connection with specific power dynamics and with a social and cultural frame that still today makes it possible.
