In Europe, in the last twenty years, green areas have become an essential element both metropolitan then municipal planning. From Green Infrastructure Plan in London to Bluegreen Plan of Malmö (Sweden) demonstrating that in Europe green planning is now a strategic lever for the quality of life in urban areas. In Italy, however, green planning assumes a marginal role. One of the innovative tools, but little used by our municipalities, is the Urban Green Plan, an optional plan, introduced by Law 10/2013. A more useful solution for municipal planning could be to make the development of the green plan integrated with municipal planning. In this paper I try to illustrate the methodological contents that would be obligatory in the ordinary urban planning of our municipalities.

From Green Infrastructure Plan in London to Bluegreen Plan of Malmö (Sweden) demonstrating that in Europe green planning is now a strategic lever for the quality of life in urban areas.
