Scenarios in the Making. Cognitive Investigations and Dissolutions of Urban Contexts and Neapolitan Architecture

This essay presents a study on the chromolithographs collected in the book by Raffaele D'Ambra, Napoli Antica, that depict views of the city of Naples at the end of the 19th century. The aim of the research is to investigate the transformations that the places have undergone, following the most important interventions, as part of the Rehabilitation and which significantly transformed some areas of Naples. Perspective restitution was used which, having made the necessary investigations and interpretations, allows to reconstruct the three-dimensionality of the places. Starting from photographs, paintings, chromolithographs or engravings, images that respond to the geometric rules of perspective, it is possible to reconstruct virtual models of the areas. The research objectives range from the possibility of understanding the architectural and urban consistency in a given historical moment to investigating perceptive suggestions, while also imagining ways of fruition and enjoyment through the use of devices in line with the widespread trends based on the use of technology. Indagini conoscitive e dissoluzioni di contesti urbani e architetture napoletane Nell’ambito di questo saggio si presenta uno studio condotto sulle cromolitografie raccolte nel volume di Raffaele D’Ambra, Napoli Antica, e raffiguranti scorci e vedute della città di Napoli alla fine del XIX secolo. Scopo della ricerca è quello di indagare le trasformazioni che i luoghi hanno subito, anche in seguito ai significativi interventi, previsti con il Risanamento, che trasformarono significativamente alcune zone di Napoli. Ci si è avvalsi della restituzione prospettica che, fatte le dovute indagini e interpretazioni, consente di ricostruire la tridimensionalità dei luoghi. Partendo da fotografie, dipinti, cromolitografie o incisioni, immagini che rispondono alle regole geometriche della prospettiva, è possibile ricostruire modelli virtuali degli ambiti. Diversi gli obiettivi della ricerca che vanno dalla possibilità di comprendere la consistenza architettonica e urbana in un determinato momento storico, all’indagare le suggestioni percettive e immaginare modalità di fruizione e godimento attraverso l’impiego di dispositivi in linea con le diffuse tendenze basate anche sull’uso della tecnologia.
