In the tradition of the myth of Europa and the bull it is possible to find several comic elements, aimed at ridiculing the degradation of Zeus turned into a bull for the love of a mortal woman. At the same time, the image of the heroine is degraded by the comparison with a prostitute. Such parodic elements are fully developed in the versions of the myth proposed in the Hellenistic, Imperial and Late antique Greek Literature. The article proposes an investigation into the possible comic models of this tradition, tracing back its roots to the mythological comedy of the 4th century BC.
