Noto Antica: la ripresa delle indagini archeologiche

Noto antica: preliminary results of the excavations on Mount Alveria (2017-2018) · This paper is focused on a review of the previous studies carried on by Paolo Orsi between 1894 and 1896 and other archaeologists during the 20th century. A topographical analysis and the results of the new excavations on Mount Alveria in 2017-2018 will be presented. The research program was realized by the «Federico II» University of Naples and started just from the top of Mount Alveria which was the seat of a medieval settlement. The recent excavation allowed to find many materials related to the Hellenistic period and some ruins belonging to a sacred building. For the first time after Paolo Orsi, the Heroon B was also investigated and a graphic outline of the perimeter recesses was made.
