Among the papyri opened by scorzatura, the roll of Philodemus’ De Rhetorica book I (midollo PHerc. 1427) is in particularly poor condition, since its damaged state required deep cuts to open it in the first place. In this paper, I will call into question the attribution of two scorze to the hand of Anonimo XX, the scribe of this text. Additionally, I will demonstrate a join between two different series of scorze, PHerc. 1612 and 250, which present the top and bottom of columns respectively. I will present the text which led me to this connection, namely the presence of a quotation of Plato, and I will discuss the position of this column within the roll.
