This paper aims to investigate the complex problem of stratigraphy in Herculaneum papyri. Virtual models will represent examples of sovrapposti and sottoposti with the goal of allowing us to draw logical conclusions, which will have universal validity when reconstructing papyri in which multiple layers occur. This will allow the prediction, to a certain extent, of the trend of the stratigraphy in a given piece. Finally a specific case will be presented (PHerc. 1746, cr 2).
