The issuance of digital currency by central banks could be the next milestone in the evolution of money. The limit of scriptural bank money is that of the dependence of trust on the exclusivity of the subject who is authorized to modify the account book. The present work attempts to fit into the debate on the evolution of (digital) currencies introduced by the central banking system, as well as on the literature that explores the monetary and legal challenges raised by the new frontiers of financial activity. In the possibility of issuing CBDC, opportunities are being taken to improve the efficiency of finance and to introduce a mechanism to promote financial inclusion. At the same time, there are clear concerns about the impact these changes will have on the stability of the financial system.
