Organizational well-being has been widely studied in the academic debate, while little attention has been paid to the specific health sector. Aiming at filling this gap, this study systematizes the aspects affecting employee well-being in the healthcare context and provides an updated state-of-the-art on the literature debating on this issue. In doing so, it provides both academic and practical implications for managerial action in the healthcare context. Also, the study represents a useful starting point for practical interventions to improve workers' motivation and well-being. The study employs a systematic literature review to detect those factors affecting the well-being of healthcare professionals. The results will be interpreted through organizational behavior studies on motivation, particularly the approach providedby Herzberg in the "Two-factors"' theory. The results reveal that only recently the attention increased on the healthcare context, and that a particular attention is devoted to nurses. In addition, some determinants for the well-being of healthcare workers are detected, identifying some specific factors in addition to those already identified in other sectors.
