he main aims of the paper are numerical and experimental modal analysis for characterizing the dynamic behavior of a straightened fuselage frame and to investigate the effect of introducing a Wire-Rope Dynamic Vibration Absorber (DVA), which is a variable stiffness tunable device. Experimental Modal Analysis (EMA) is performed for various conditions and experimental data have been acquired and analysed using Siemens LMS Test.Lab software. The numerical modal analysis technique has been made based on finte element method (FEM), using NASTRAN as the solver and its pre and post-processor. Good agreement between numerical and experimental analyses has been found. Wire-Rope DVA operation has demonstrated and control of the selected structural mode has proved effective. Furthermore the Wire-Rope DVA showed greater frequency flexibility for tuning on the frame. This work has enabled to propose an appoach that can be used for passive vibration control.

Abstract

he main aims of the paper are numerical and experimental modal analysis for characterizing the dynamic behavior of a straightened fuselage frame and to investigate the effect of introducing a Wire-Rope Dynamic Vibration Absorber (DVA), which is a variable stiffness tunable device.
