Materials science has become the most capable sector in driving and determining technological development. Wood, starting from the first experiments by Philibert de l'Orme in the XVI century has been constantly involved in this process. Its use has been greatly reduced for several decades, but today we are aware of its exceptional properties again. The extensive research and development work, especially in the last thirty years, determined again wood to be a fundamental element for building. Wood is the only building material defined as a resource, for its use in different sectors and with extremely varied purposes. By this term in dictionary definitions it means "a device with which it is possible to provide a need, a necessity. The work aim to conceive a floor system whose beams, defined with “variable trim” (lights from 3.80 to 5.00 meters), are composed of several "pieces" connected by joint elements with no adhesives, to create structural elements that are usually made with a single piece according to a standardization logic to achieve criteria of efficiency, optimization and economic sustainability. The logic of dry assembly also guarantees reversibility and even partial substitutability of the system parts. The reduced complexity of the structure, the lightness and the ease of transport of the elements, all hand transportable by a single worker, guarantee the realization even in difficult operating contexts. The idea on which the experimental project is based arises precisely from the need to preserve the so-called “minor” heritage that would otherwise be lost, designing an innovative system for the recovery of wooden floors beam.
