We study the determinants of student completion rates and estimate the probability of graduating, being active or dropping out of university using an Ordinal Logit model. Moreover, we focus on students who graduated and using Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) we study the determinants of students’ graduation mark, based on demographic characteristics and student performance along the academic career. As robustness tests, we estimate a Tobit model and the Heckman selection model. The analysis is based on micro-data from a large Italian public university.

Abstract
We study the determinants of student completion rates and estimate the probability of graduating, being active or dropping out of university using an Ordinal Logit model. Moreover, we focus on students who graduated and using Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) we study the determinants of students’ graduation mark, based on demographic characteristics and student performance along the academic career. As robustness tests, we estimate a Tobit model and the Heckman selection model. The analysis is based on micro-data from a large Italian public university.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
