This paper proposes a new approach to assess consistency of preferences expressed as priorities over a set of alternatives. A procedure based on the analysis of variation has been adopted for testing time-homogeneity of preferences; the statistical behaviour of the testing procedure has been investigated via Monte Carlo simulation.
