The UN Climate Change Conference COP24 in Katowice, Poland, must address the challenge of ongoing climate change by stepping up appropriate actions to keep the global average temperature below 1.5 degrees Celsius to avoid the catastrophic consequences of global warming, according to the findings of the IPCC Special Report. We need first to focus on the use of renewable energy sources, abandoning fossil fuels, and towards energy efficiency and savings. The EU has presented a strategy for a climate-neutral Europe by 2050 ahead of the Katowice conference.
