An algorithm suitable for digital speed control of an electrical drive is presented. It performs an instantaneous compensation of the load torque variations, by imposing the motor drive accelerating torque required to achieve an assigned speed response. In this way, an improved dynamic response is obtained. A good robustness to the inertia variations is also assured. The validity of the algorithm and the comparison with traditional control strategies is established by means of a computer simulation program

Abstract

An algorithm suitable for digital speed control of an electrical drive is presented. It performs an instantaneous compensation of the load torque variations, by imposing the motor drive accelerating torque required to achieve an assigned speed response. In this way, an improved dynamic response is obtained. A good robustness to the inertia variations is also assured. The validity of the algorithm and the comparison with traditional control strategies is established by means of a computer simulation program
