The stochastic response of axial-symmetric structures, subjected to random and spatially-correlated loads, is here analysed through an approach based on the combination of a wave finite element and a transfer matrix method. Through this technique, a variable-with-the-frequency mesh can be used in order to extend the model accuracy over the frequency limits of the classic finite element methods, increasing, at the same time, the computational speed. The presented methodology is validated for random loads, both for simple and complex structural shapes. Different flow regimes are analysed and compared.

Abstract
