The lectotype of Juniperus turbinata Gussone, a Mediterranean endemic, is here designated. The work is based on both the checking of herbaria of Catania, Naples and Palermo, in which the Gussone’s material is deposited as well as the examination of relevant literature, including the Gussone's protologue. Is designed as lectotype, one of sheets at Naples. It is the most complete and informative original material available, it matches well the Gussone's protologue, and corresponds to the current concept ad use of the name.
