Climate change is a big issue concerning the livability in the cities. On a local scale, the main impacts affect the health and well-being of the inhabitants and are directly related to heat waves. The urban structure, the features of the built environment and socio-economic factors can worsen or reduce the reaction to the effects of the climate change during summertime. Nowadays, we need to consider in detail all the aspects of adaptive design and their connections to the components of environmental design by following a systemic approach, performance and process management. The improvement of the livability and environmental performance of buildings, open spaces and urban aggregates requires a dynamic management of data, simulation scenarios and of the effects of vulnerability reduction
