Mesoporous amino-functionalized ceria (NH2-m-CeO2) with good photostability and enhanced daylight photocatalytic activity was successfully prepared via a facile method. The resultant samples were characterized by XRD, N2 adsorption–desorption, Raman, UV–vis, and FT-IR techniques. The photocatalytic activities of the prepared samples were evaluated by the decomposition of Acid Red 14 (AR14) dye under weak natural light irradiation. The results showed that the addition of amino groups onto the surface of mesoporous ceria (m-CeO2) remarkably improved the photodegradation rate. Compared with m-CeO2, the NH2-m-CeO2 sample showed an excellent photocatalytic efficiency in photodegrading highly concentrated AR14 solutions.
