Abstract

Ancient and consolidated geopolitical balances no longer exist on the international scene with a strong acceleration since the early years of the twenty-first century. The number of global players has increased and they are now no longer solely individual states, but also associations and organizations which, in different ways, play a role in the context of the international relations. In this scenario, however, none of those who act on the global stage appears able to impose, at the different regional scales, their political will. We are facing, therefore, a very fragmented "geopolitical ensamble" since the end of the bipolar balance of the "cold war" between the two great victorious powers of World War II does not seem to have generated, denying any easy prediction, a single superpower.
