This paper presents a method for the division of an aperture into sub-apertures preserving the performance. The technique represent a first stage towards a real subarray synthesis. It is based on a multi-stage approach wherein an aperture synthesis, an evolutionary algorithm, and, finally, a local search are adopted to find the needed sub-aperture distribution. A proper representation has been adopted to reduce the number of the parameters defining the sub-aperture partitioning and make feasible the use of a global optimizer

Abstract
This paper presents a method for the division of an aperture into sub-apertures preserving the performance. The technique represent a first stage towards a real subarray synthesis. It is based on a multi-stage approach wherein an aperture synthesis, an evolutionary algorithm, and, finally, a local search are adopted to find the needed sub-aperture distribution. A proper representation has been adopted to reduce the number of the parameters defining the sub-aperture partitioning and make feasible the use of a global optimizerI documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
