A number of British and American lesson plans on migration was analysed in light of the Critical Discourse Analysis framework with a view to exploring their representational function and educational values. In sharp contrast to the official discourse endorsed by political institutions and the media, characterized by covert discrimination, the analysis has shown that the lesson plans stimulate critical thinking and an openly welcoming attitude to the cultural and linguistic diversity represented by migrants.

Abstract
A number of British and American lesson plans on migration was analysed in light of the Critical Discourse Analysis framework with a view to exploring their representational function and educational values. In sharp contrast to the official discourse endorsed by political institutions and the media, characterized by covert discrimination, the analysis has shown that the lesson plans stimulate critical thinking and an openly welcoming attitude to the cultural and linguistic diversity represented by migrants.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
