Abstract
At the beginnings of the 80s, R.E. Gaebel published an article concerning the endings for the accusative plural of the i–stem words in the Georgics, giving also space to the peculiarities in Latin papyri. Overlapping literary and documentary texts, Gaebel has talked about a strong incidence of the –es spelling, against the one in –is; but comparing literary and documentary texts means to simplify a difficult problem, as didactical aims and the auctoritas’ firmness clash one into another. Trough the examination of all the accusative plurals of the third declension into Vergilian papyri – bilingual texts, working copies, didactical texts – the only certainty is the presence of both the spellings as well as in codicological Vergilian traditionI documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
