Extensive critical survey of themes and problems connected with jurisdiction and processes in the provinces of the Roman Empire in the classical period. The a. deals also with specific, sometimes poorly investigated, topics as the comparison between urban and provincial courts the position of the governor, the role of the soldier as judges, the sites of the jurisdiction in the capita provinciarum and in the peripheral areas. In the article a singificative importance is dedicated to the fabulae cottidianae as sources of the provincial legal practice.
