As numerous recent works on argument through analogy in Lucretius' De Rerum Natura have suggested doing, several metaphors and similes are examined and traced in the texts of Epicurus, which have not yet been sufficiently taken into consideration in the scholarly literature on the topic. Images (Imagines) and clouds, in particular, seem to have offered Epicurus quite a few points of departure for a practice which seems to amount to a real and authentic didactic and scientific method, which Epicurus could have marked out for Lucretius
