The assumption is that skills and competences of knowledge brokers may vary based on environmental characteristics, environmental and productive context; kind of network the broker is involved in; width of key activities performed by the broker; broker’s affiliation; role of the partners. Based on multiples case studies realized in a moderately innovative country (Southern Italy), policies to enhance brokers skills and competences are proposed in order to improve this role as a facilitator of innovative processes within a business context
